How to Delete a Page in Word
Microsoft Word is one of the most popular word processing program around the world. It is compatible on the two most popular operating systems, Windows and Mac.
Word is very powerful and can be used to do a large number of thing, with it, comes a lot of questions. One of those questions is:
How can I Delete a Page in Word?
By deleting a page, we are going to be addressing a page of content. There are several different ways that you can go about removing a page and we will review them. Keep reading to find out how to remove a page.
Step 1: Selecting and Deleting
The first option for removing a page in word is to select all of the items on a given page and press the DELETE key. It is important to use DELETE and not backspace as some items on the page may not be removed by delete. This will remove all of the content on the page and move the content after it up.
Instead of using the DELETE key you can use the combination of CONTROL and X in order to cut the portion that you have selected from the document.
This method for deleting a whole page on word is probably the most well-known as it is similar to removing smaller amounts of content on the page.
Step 2: Deleting Empty Page(s) at The End
The most common problem that results with needing to delete a page in Word is to have a blank page at the end of your document. This often results from unintended hits of the return key or from partially removing parts of a document.
If you have a blank page at the end of a document, it is probably because there are extra spaces. Press CONTROL + END in order to get to the bottom of the page. This will get you to the furthest typed point in the document. Continue to press backspace until your cursor is at the point where your last text is.
Alternatively, you can select the blank spaces like you did with the previous step and hit delete.
Step 3: Deleting Multiple Pages in a Range
Word has a method that you can use to delete multiple pages at one time. Say you want to delete page 5 through 7, let’s take a look at how you can do that.
Start by pressing F5. This will open a window to go to a specific page. Input the page number that you want to go to, for example 5. Hit enter and you will end up on the page.
Then, you will want to press F8 to enable extend mode. Repeat the first step but instead put the last page you want to go to. When you click enter this time, you get to the page number you put in and everything in between will be selected.
Click delete to have everything in between deleted. The process is a lot quicker and easier than it appears.
Step 4: Accidental Page Break
Accidently inserting a wordbreak is not an uncommon occurrence. All you need to do to insert one is click ALT and ENTER at the same time. There are multiple ways to get rid of these accidental page breaks.
If you just created the page break, you can click CONTROL + Z at the same time to undo the accident. This will step you back in Word by undoing your last action.
Another option is to move to the first line of the page break and simply click the backspace key. This will remove the break.
As you can see there are multiple ways to delete a page in Word. Don’t forget to save after removing the page from Word so that your changes are kept.
